NEW YORK, USA: Reggae singer Freddie McGregor is to be presented with the Key To The City of Mount Vernon for his contribution to the reggae industry.
The decision was made by Mount Vernon's Mayor Richard Thomas last week, who also announced that the presentation will be made at Roy Wilkins Park in Queens during the annual Groovin' In The Park musical festival on Sunday.
“I feel lucky that I will be honoured by a city where Jamaicans have broken barriers, and have shown how immigrants can live the American Dream,” said McGregor.
McGregor will join a dazzling list of R&B and reggae stars, including R Kelly, Stephanie Mills, Busy Signal,Tarrus Riley, Ken Boothe, Leroy Sibbles and U-Roy for this year's staging of Groovin' In The Park.
